How to Make Money The Biblical Way

As you guys know, I love talking about entrepreneurship and the financial pillar within the King’s Council. They are two of my passions and anytime I get to help someone work on strengthening their business and increasing their finances, it fills my heart and soul.

The Bible talks a lot about finances and in this week’s episode, I want to share with you 3 principles about making money the biblical way. Let’s get into it!

Principle #1: Get into the Word of God

When I was prepping for this week’s podcast, I found this scripture Joshua 1:8 that really hit me to my core. It says:

“Do not let this book of the law depart from your mouth, but meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

Whenever you see the word “then,” in the Bible, you want to pay attention. Anytime the word then shows up in a passage, know that this means there is a given promise from God. If you want to know how to be prosperous and successful, it’s really simple. Do not let this book of the law depart from your mouth. Meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.

Many of us are looking to podcasts and books for inspiration, motivation and answers when at the end of the day, getting into the Word of God is the answer. That’s not to say that podcasts like ours or other experts out there do not have something of value to give. In fact, there are a ton of great resources that help explain the Word and understand what is written. But this principle is about you diving into the Word of God and meditating on it day and night. If you do this, then you’ll be prosperous and successful.

Principle #2: Be a Leader

For far too long, Christians have been believing this lie that being broke as a Chrisitan should be accepted as part of our faith. And when I read the Word of God, if you are broke and a Christian it’s essentially an oxymoron. How can we be children of the King of Kings and yet allow ourselves to live in poverty?

We cannot accept this as Christians. Christians are leaders and we are representations of Jesus himself. That means we are leaders.

Leaders live in a state of strength and authority while also being of service and humility and of love and gratitude. We are designed in His image and He never designed or intended for us to be poor, to be broke, to be living paycheck to paycheck living in lack and struggling to make rent.

We were not created that way. We were not created to be weak, a pushover and a product of our circumstances. We were made to conquer and be above them.

That’s how we are to live in every area of our life, including our finances. So be a leader. Take initiative and align yourself with what He has intended for us. You have been given every advantage to thrive and strive towards your greatest potential. That’s what God has intended for you and becoming a leader will unlock all areas of your life.

Principle #3: Stop Trying to Be Wealthy

If you’re not where you want to be financially it’s because you’ve been trying to obtain money. You’ve been trying to get wealthy. You’ve been trying for far too long on your own natural strength through your own means by your own abilities. Most of us live in this world of doubt and think along the lines of something like this:

“If I could just get that promotion, then I could be making more money. Then I could be happy.”

Hate to break the news to you but this line of thinking is that of a victim mentality. That type of thinking has prevented you specifically and the Christian community from walking in the freedom and the authority that has been given to us by God.

Money is a spiritual issue. It operates in the spiritual realm. It’s a spiritual battle. And the reason so many of us have struggled financially is that we’ve been attacking it from our worldly standpoint. We’re attacking achieving wealth from a natural view, not within the kingdom. We’re not operating in the spiritual realm here when we’re talking about our finances.

When I say stop trying to be wealthy, what I mean is stop trying to force your way to wealth on your own.

Have faith and determination in God that He wants you to thrive and wants you to be wealthy. The enemy wishes to keep you down and the biggest weapon the enemy has against us is fear. And when we use faith, when we step into faith we are able to defeat fear as faith and fear cannot live in the same realm. When you can let go of your worldly view of what you think is safe and walk in faith with these kingdom financial principles, you will have more than enough wealth in your life.
