The 3 Secrets You Need For A Successful 2022
The King’s Council recently hosted our annual Rest, Reflect, and Relaunch event in Texas this
past week, and man was it epic! Our members and their families joined us to rest and reflect on 2021 and lay the foundation to relaunch in 2022.
During one of our breaks, I sat down with three of my closest friends for an episode of the King’s
Council Podcast to discuss the event and some of the lessons learned to create a successful
and inspiring 2022. You can listen to the full episode or watch it on Youtube to see what else we discussed.
Your Goals Should Include Metrics
No matter what your goals are; every goal should include a set of measurables or metrics.
During periods of rest you take during the year, you need to look at those measurables and see
what has been working for you and what hasn’t. Many people feel like working harder and faster
is always better and skip past this phase. When you miss the rest component, you bypass the
chance to give your body a rest, your mind a rest, and your soul a rest. All of these areas grow through rest, not through pushing all the time.
As humans, we have a tendency to achieve a level of success and think we have to get more
and more accomplished if we just push harder and faster. I have found that if you rest and
reflect on your processes, in these areas of your life, you get a chance to absorb the lessons
you have learned.
Whether you are winning or in a tough spot in life, you have to have data to look at and ask
where things went well and where they didn’t. As we say in the King’s Council, win or learn.
There’s no such thing as failure, it’s feedback. The more feedback you have, the more you are
able to apply to your future and change your outcome.
So when you are creating your goals especially during the end of this year, find ways to
implement metrics to help you see what works and doesn’t. When periods of rest come up,
you’ll be able to use that time to reflect on the progress of your goals.
Your Next Day Starts At Night
Caleb Spitler, our Director of Member Relationships shared on the podcast that he plans his next day by starting at night. Every night I go through my nonnegotiables for the next day to gameplan so I can wake up with a clear plan of action to win my day. We all have to-do lists and some of us that are reading this post right now probably have stuff from 2020 that we still have yet to accomplish. And in this day and age especially, it feels like we never have enough time to get everything done.
Remember this -There is never enough time to get everything done, but there is always enough
time to get the most important things done, and if you can prioritize those essential things on a
nightly basis, you’ll set yourself up for success.
For those of you who have a family or even a business or both, it is crucial that you start
planning your days at night and truly reflect on your non-negotiables and deliverables for the
Take your nights as seriously as your days and watch your 2022 be as successful as you
envisioned for it to be.
The Word of God is Your Playbook
Finally, the third secret is diving into the word of God. And it’s not just reading the Bible on a
daily basis in hopes that God will work miracles in your life just because you turned a couple of
pages. The bible is our curriculum and this life is our test. The best part of it though is that it’s
an open book test!
This is one thing I had to embrace early in my career and it has been one of my go-tos running
my businesses and coaching our members. When times get challenging, I remember that I need to sit with God, read and pray and study the bible.
Even if you think you don’t have time for it, you do. It will give you the insight and the tools
necessary to live this life. Remember, how you do anything is how you do everything!
